    SALEM, MASS. ? Tyreik McCauley's (Worcester, Mass.) jumper with one second remaining broke a 77-77 tie and propelled Salem State to a stunning 79-77 victory over Gordon College on Tuesday evening at Twohig Gymnasium. Jaren Yang (San Francisco, Calif.) tied the game for the Fighting Scots with a three-pointer after two-previous attempts to tie in their final possession missed the mark. Following a throw-in and tip from underneath Gordon's basket, McCauley picked up the loose ball and calmly drained the winning shot from just inside the three-point arc. The Vikings improve to 3-1 on the season while the Fighting Scots slip to 1-1.

    GORHAM, Maine -- Senior Mackenzie Cook (Reading, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and senior goalie Jason Pucciarelli (Newmarket, Ont.) stopped 43 shots as the visiting Salem State University Vikings defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies, 5-3, in a non-conference men's ice hockey game Tuesday evening at the USM Ice Arena.

Salem State's Isabelle Woodward (Ottawa, Ontario) made 39 saves her counterpart University of New England goalie Caty Flagg (Methuen, Mass.) made 37 saves as the Vikings and Nor'Easters skated to a 1-1 tie at Rockett Arena on Tuesday evening. Salem State now stands at 0-5-2 while the University of New England goes to 1-2-4.

    SALEM, MASS ? Meghan Foley (Malden, Mass) led the Gordon College Fighting Scots to a 72-58 victory over Salem State on Tuesday night at Twohig Gymnasium. Foley scored 22 points, shooting 50% from the field, while going 9-for-12 from the line. Gordon evens their record at 2-2 while the Vikings remain winless at 0-4.

    WILLIAMSTOWN ? An explosive second half helped the Salem State Vikings overcome the Suffolk University Rams 82-74 in the consolation game of the Williams Tip-Off Tournament. Senior Shaquan Murray led the Vikings with 22 points and in the process, scored his 1,000th career point. Murray now has 1,012 points and is the 29th Viking to reach the 1,000 career-point plateau.

    TROY, N.Y. - Junior Sam Krumbhaar (Glen Burnie, MD) scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team to a 68-44 victory over Salem State University, on Saturday afternoon at East Campus Arena. With the win, the Engineers improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Vikings drop to 0-3.
