MASCAC HOSTS SPORTSMANSHIP SEMINAR
FRAMINGHAM MA, March 2,
2008 - On Sunday, March 2,
approximately 70 student-athletes, coaches and administrators
from all eight MASCAC Colleges met at Framingham State to hear
nationally known speaker Dan Doyle.
Doyle was hired to present a sportsmanship seminar for the conference as a part of the NCAA Strategic Initiative Grant. A key objective was to provide the member colleges with a clear sportsmanship roadmap. This session provided a good start in developing that map.
The day's presentations included a leadership program where Dan lead the participants in a series of compelling leadership exercises ,all designed to develop a coherent leadership philosophy. The session also included a brainstorming segment directed at developing a fan behavior code. The day wrapped up with Doyle delivering a keynote address entitled "The Value of Honorable Competition".
The day long program left student-athlete, administrators and coaches feeling energized, enlightened and learned a few things on the way.
The Conference hopes to take the feedback from the Fan Bill of Rights and, in working with Day Doyle, hopes to develop the sportsmanship roadmap with the input of the Conference SAAC at the Community Service Project for the Troops at Bridgewater State College on Sunday, April 6.
