Sutton, MA --- Senior medalist David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) handed in a card of 76 (+4) to earn medalist accolades to help lead Worcester State to the 2015 MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship this afternoon at the par 72 Blackstone National Golf Course.

With a team score of 324 (+36), the Lancers edged Salem State by four strokes (328) to earn their first conference title since the 1984-85 campaign. Westfield State was nine off the lead with 333 and MCLA rounded out the field with 383.

The second-place Vikings were underscored by Cameron Daley (Duxbury, MA), junior Cam Moniz (Seekonk, MA), senior Connor McDonagh-Poh (Holden, MA) and Tom MacPherson (Jefferson, MA) who fired fifth (80, +8), sixth (81, +9), seventh (82, +10) and tied for tenth (85, +13), respectively.

Freshman Mike Sarkus (E. Longmeadow, MA) impressed for the Owls as he tied second place with a 79 (+7) to highlight Westfield State. Sophomore Patrick O’Neil (Westford, MA) notched ninth while Tyler Beaudry (S. Hadley, MA)  and junior Derek Doiron (Leominster, MA) shared tenth (85, +13).

Freshman Nick Young (Ballston Lake, NY) fired an 83 in eighth place to pace the Trailblazers.

Rixham is first medalist since All-American Bob Bruso shared the accolade with Jeff Santora of Salem State in the 2009-10 season.
