MASCAC Softball Weekly Report 3/19

Player of the Week

Dayna Marchant
Framingham State
Senior • OF • E. Bridgewater, Mass.

Marchant batted .500 (16-32) with two doubles, a triple, eight runs scored, eight RBI and five stolen bases plus a .515 on-base percentage and .625 slugging percentage in a 4-4 week for the Rams. Went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI in the setback to Franklin and Marshall College and went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and three RBI in the 7-5 win over North Park University. Tied the school career hit record going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, including the game winning run in the seventh, in the 2-1 win over Northwestern College (Minn.). Broke the career hit mark with a pair of hits in the setback to University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Closed the week with a 3-for-5 performance with a run scored, a double and an RBI in the 5-1 win over SUNY-Fredonia and went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the 15-7 win over University of New England.

Pitcher of the Week

Kelsi Gunarathne
Framingham State
Junior • P • N. Providence, R.I.

Gunarathne went 2-2 with a save, a 1.98 ERA and 20 strikeouts over five appearances (four starts). Went seven innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in the 2-1 win over Northwestern College (Minn.). Also earned the 5-1 win over SUNY-Fredonia, going seven innings and allowing one earned run on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Earned the save with three strikouts and one hit in the 7-5 win over North Park University.

Rookie of the Week

Grace Caughey 
Framingham State
Freshman • P/IF • Menden, Mass.

Caughey batted .357 (5-14) with a double, a triple, a home run, six RBI and .786 slugging percentage in 10 games for the Rams. Went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and four RBI in the 15-7 win over University of New England. Hit a solo home run with an RBI in the 5-1 in win over SUNY-Fredonia and was 2-for-2 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored in the setback to Bowdoin College.
