Salem State's Fecteau Named to D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Team
Salem State senior second baseman Richard Fecteau (Newbury, Mass.) has been named to the 2016 D3Baseball.com Preseason All-America Second Team in an announcement on Friday afternoon.

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State senior second baseman Richard Fecteau(Newbury, Mass.) has been named to the 2016 D3Baseball.com Preseason All-America Second Team in an announcement on Friday afternoon. Fecteau was named for the second straight year after being an honorable mention pick last season, and is among just five New England players to be honored.
Head Coach Mike Ward on Fecteau being recognized as one of the top players in the country: "This is nice recognition for Richie. He's had three outstanding years for us, and I feel that he is one of the top hitters in the country. Richie has worked hard to be a complete player and was a strong defensive player for us last year as well. He is a class act and loves the game, and I am very happy that he chose to attend and play for Salem State."
Fecteau helped Salem State to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference championship and NCAA regional tournament last season. A first-team All-MASCAC second baseman, and a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association and ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region selection, Fecteau enjoyed an outstaning season, leading the MASCAC in batting average (.405), doubles, (17), while finishing second in hits (49). He also earned Eastern College Athletic Conference first-team honors for the second straight year.
