Westfield State to Face Cortland in First Round of NCAA DIII Baseball Regional Action
Westfield State will play in the Auburn, New York regional in the 2018 NCAA tournament. The Owls are the eighth seed in the region and will face host and top seed Cortland (N.Y.) State in the first game. Westfield State is making its 10th NCAA tournament appearance, and its first under fifth-year head coach Nathan Bashaw.

Westfield State will play in the Auburn, New York regional in the 2018 NCAA tournament. The Owls are the eighth seed in the region and will face host and top seed Cortland (N.Y.) The Owls earned the MASCAC automatic bid as the conference tournament champions, and Westfield is 24-16-1 overall this season.
The NCAA Regional is a double elimination format, with the Owls first two games scheduled for May 17 and 18.
Games will be played at Falcon Park, home of the Auburn Doubledays of the New York Penn League, a short-season A-ball affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Westfield State traveled to the Auburn regional for the 2007 NCAA Tournament. Westfield last appeared in the NCAAs in 2010 under retired head coach Ray Arra.

Cortland has been a Division 3 power, winning the 2015 NCAA title, and appearing in the championship game in 2010 and 2005.
Play continues until a regional champion is determined, with the winners of the eight regions advancing to the Division III College World Series in Appleton, Wisc.
