MASCAC Baseball Weekly Awards 5/12
After winning their fourth straight MASCAC Baseball Tournament title over the weekend, Scott Emerson and Chase Beach of Bridgewater State earn the MASCAC Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors.

Emerson, the MASCAC Tournament MVP batted .353 (6-17) with a double, triple, home run, three walks five stolen bases, 10 runs and eight RBI in five games during the tournament. Was also hit by a pitch four times and posted a .542 on base percentage as well as a .706 slugging percentage. Went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base, two runs and an RBI in a 5-4 win over Salem State; 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk, 2 HBP, three runs and an RBI in a 12-6 victory over Salem State; 3-for-5 with a grand slam, a hit by pitch, a stolen base, three runs and five RBI in a 12-3 championship round triumph over Mass. Maritime; and 1-for-4 with a double, a hit by pitch, two stolen bases, two runs and an RBI in a 15-3 championship game win over Mass. Maritime. |

Beach went 1-0 with a save in two appearances (one start) on the mound for the Bears at the MASCAC Tournament. Posted a 3.86 earned run average over seven innings of work with just one walk and six strikeouts. Tossed a scoreless inning of relief with a pair of strikeouts to pick up the save in a 5-4 win over Salem State. In just his second start of the season, allowed three runs on five hits over six full innings of work with four strikeouts in a 15-3 championship game win over Mass. Maritime. |
