MASCAC Football Weekly Report 10/22

Offensive Player of the Week

 

Jack Lavanchy
Bridgewater State
Junior • Wide Receiver • Walpole, Mass.

Lavanchy set BSU single-game records for both receptions and receiving yards as he hauled in 14 receptions for 254 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Bears’ 27-20 setback to Western Connecticut State. Scored on touchdown passes of 15 and 12 yards. Longest reception was for 64 yards and also added a 44-yard catch. His 254-yard game is the second-most receiving yards since the MASCAC started football in 2013 and currently marks the seventh highest receiving yardage total in Division III this season and the 14-catch performance is tied for ninth. Also became the sixth receiver in program history to reach the century mark for career receptions (112) and the seventh to achieve the 1,500-yard receiving milestone (1,506).

 Defensive Player of the Week

Nathan Fleming
Framingham State
Senior • Linebacker • Windham, Conn.

Fleming finished with eight solo tackles and returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown in the Rams’ 29-14 win over Westfield State.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Noah Hwang
Worcester State
Junior • Kicker • Brooklyn, N.Y.

Hwang totaled nine points on a 23-yard field goal and 6-for-6 on PAT to break the all-time school record for kicking points (114) in the Lancers’ 45-40 homecoming win over UMass Dartmouth.

Rookie of the Week

Stephen Gacioch
UMass Dartmouth
Freshman • Quarterback • Tiverton, R.I.

Gacioch threw for 234 yards on a career-high 21-of-35 passing with a touchdown and rushed for two more scores in the Corsairs’ 45-40 setback to Worcester State. Had a touchdown pass of 28 yards and rushed for two scores of one yard apiece.
