Fitchburg State to Face Plattsburgh State in Opening Round of NCAA DIII Men's Basketball Tournament
After winning the MASCAC Men's Basketball Tournament Title Saturday, the Fitchburg State Falcons will face Plattsburgh State in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament after earning the MASCAC's automatic qualifier.

After winning the MASCAC Men's Basketball Tournament Title Saturday, the Fitchburg State Falcons will face Plattsburgh State in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament after earning the MASCAC's automatic qualifier.
The Falcons and Cardinals will begin their NCAA Tournament journey on March 4 in Plattsburgh, N.Y. with a time to be determined. Joining Fitchburg State and host Plattsburgh State in their first round grouping is Trinity (CT) and Johnson & Wales. The winner of each of the first game will move on to the second round on March 5.
The Falcons (18-9, 9-3 MASCAC) took home the conference tourney title for the second time since the 2012-13 season with a 82-78 victory over Salem State with the help of MASCAC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP Jaleel Bell who netted 16 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and an assist in the win.
No. 21 Plattsburgh State ( 21-5, 16-2 SUNYAC) were the SUNYAC Regular Season Champions but fell in the Conference Tournament semifinals 81-74 to Oswego State. The last time these two met in 1978, the Cardinals defeated the Falcons, 80-48.
