LAKE PLACID, NY -- Salem State junior goalie Marcus Zelzer (Green Bay, WI) was named to the 2016 CCM DIVISION II-III MEN'S HOCKEY ALL-AMERICAN Team in an announcement on Friday. Zelzer, was selected to the third team, and becomes Salem State's 14th hockey All-American. Players from 18 different schools earned recognition as a 2016 CCM DIVISION II-III MEN'S HOCKEY ALL-AMERICAN.

Zelzer enjoyed a career-year for the Vikings, which included a nation's best 18-game winning streak in leading Salem State to their second Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) championship in the past three years and the program's eighth NCAA Tournament bid. Zelzer, finished the season with an 18-2 record between the pipes for the Vikings. He co-led the nation with five shutouts and was amongst the leaders in goals-against average (2.03) and save percentage (.924).

"I would like to congratulate Marcus on this great accomplishment," praised Salem State head coach Bill O'Neill. "Marcus had a fantastic season. His numbers were incredible. Marcus led us to the MASCAC regular season and conference championship culminating in a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Our Salem State hockey community is proud of Marcus as we look forward to his return next season."

Hobart College carried the way with four selections, followed by three from NCAA semifinalist Geneseo State, and two honorees each from seven schools, including NCAA semifinalists UMass-Boston, St. Norbert College and Wisconsin-Stevens Point.Senior goalie Jamie Murray of Babson College is the only First Team repeat selection from 2015. It is his third consecutive First Team selection. Of the 30 All-Americans, 25 are from the United States and 5 are from Canada. The three leading sources are Michigan (5), Minnesota (4) and New York (4).
