Kessy Alves of Bridgewater State, Bryce Nardizzi of Framingham State and Gabriel Meireles of Salem State were named to the United Soccer Coaches DIII All-New England Team as announced on Monday afternoon.
Meireles earned a spot on this year's second team while Alves and Nardizzi landed on the third team.
In 19 games this season, all starts, Alves notched a team-high nine goals to go along with nine assists for a team-best 27 points. The Praia, Cape Verde and Brockton (Mass.) High School product tied for second in the MASCAC in assists and ranked third in both goals and scoring. He also tied for fifth in the conference in game-winning goals (2). An All-MASCAC First Team honoree, Alves helped the BSU men's soccer team (11-8-1, 5-2 MASCAC) capture the MASCAC Tournament title as he recorded a hat trick in the Bears' 5-3 championship game victory. For his outstanding performance, Alves was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Nardizzi was named MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Rams to a 5-0-2 mark during conference play and the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament. Nardizzi finished the year atop the league in goals with 15, points with 39 and game-winning goals with six. He also had the second-most assists with nine and was 2-for-2 on penalty kicks.
Meireles, the only freshman to be named to either the first or second team, led all freshman in scoring in the MASCAC this season, tallying 23 points on eight goals and seven assissts while spearheading the Vikings' offense as one of the league's top passing midfielder's as his seven assists were third most in the conference this year.
