Worcester State's Weeks, Herring Earn ECAC Weekly Honors

The Worcester State duo of Sam Weeks and Britt Herring have received weekly honors for their respective sports from the Eastern College Athletic Conference as announced this week.
Weeks was named the Division III New England Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week while Herring earned DIII New England Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors.
Weeks posted a first-place finish in the shot put event at 14.45m (47' 05.00") at the Springfield College Maroon & White Classic. The junior also finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 15.51m (50' 10.75"), qualifying for both Division III New England and ECAC Championships. Earlier this week, he was named the MASCAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Reigning MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, Herring averaged 13.5 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in two games for the Lancers. The freshman tallied 10 points, eight rebounds and five blocks in a 65-50 setback to Bridgewater State, then closed the week with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds in a 78-51 loss to Framingham State.
