Four MASCAC Student-Athletes Earn ECAC Weekly Accolades

Four MASCAC student-athletes were recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference for their efforts last week in the sports of men's basketball and indoor track and field.
Travon Godette of Westfield State and Marcus Vieira of Worcester State earned the ECAC DIII New England Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week honors. Naloti Palma of Westfield State was named DIII NE Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week while Alex Santos of Worcester took home DIII NE Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week accolades. All four of them earned MASCAC weekly honors earlier this week.
Godette broke a 27-year old school record in the high jump by clearing 2.08m (6’ 9.75”) and placed first in the event at the Massasoit Classic. The senior also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.70m (41’ 8”). Godette currently ranks sixth in the Division III in the high jump.
Vieira placed second in the weight throw at the Tufts Stampede, marking a personal best throw of 15.91m (52’ 2.5”) to qualify him for both Division III New England and ECAC Championships. The freshman also finished seventh in the shot put event with a top throw of 13.87m (45’ 6”).
Palma won the weight throw with a top toss of 15.83m (51’ 11.25”) at the Massasoit Classic, placing her third on the New England Division III qualifying performance list and 28th nationally in the event.
Santos averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. The freshman scored 23 points, including a game-tying three pointer with 21 seconds left, in an 89-88 victory over Westfield State. He then netted a team-high 30 points with six rebounds and two assists in a 104-94 overtime win against MCLA.
