Guevara Mateo of Fitchburg State Earns 2025 MASCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner and Rookie of the Year, Headlines 2025 All-Conference Team
Paulino Guevara Mateo of Fitchburg State earned not only 2025 MASCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Year honors but Rookie of the Year after finishing as the top overall finisher and first time performer at the conference championship on Saturday. His performance also headlines this year’s All-Conference team.

Westfield, Mass. — Paulino Guevara Mateo of Fitchburg State earned not only 2025 MASCAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year honors but Rookie of the Year after finishing as the top overall finisher and first time performer at the conference championship on Saturday. His performance also headlines this year's All-Conference team.
Guevara Mateo, a freshman from Cambridge, Mass., grabbed both major awards after finishing in a blistering time of 25:06 over the 8k course at Stanley Park. His time was 56 seconds faster than the second place competitor and
improved on his time on the same course from October by 24 seconds. The last time a Falcons runner took home both titles was in 2021 when Taban Manyok was claimed both crowns.
Fitchburg State's Jim Jellison was named the 2025 BSN Sports Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year which is voted on by the coaches around the league.
Joining Guevara Mateo on the 2025 All-Conference Team is Kyle Ackroyd, Tyler Amaral, Aydan Fournier, Kevin McBirney and Mitchell Parent of Bridgewater State, Samual Edwards of Fitchburg State, Aaron Corlette of Framingham State and Andrew Organ and Nathan Sylven of Westfield State.
