Bridgewater State's Kelly McCarthy sweeps the MASCAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors while MCLA's Katie Berghela repeats as the Rookie of the Week.

McCarthy went 6-for-8 (.750) at the plate with a home run, three runs scored and five RBI with a 1.125 slugging percentage in the Bears’ doubleheader sweep of Clark University. Was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 6-0 win over the Cougars and 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI in a 10-2 win over the Cougars.

| Kelly McCarthy Bridgewater State Junior • P • Burlington, Mass. McCarthy tossed a pair of complete games, including a shutout in the Bears’ doubleheader sweep of Clark University. Gave up just two runs in 13 innings of work (1.08 ERA) and struck out 13 batters while walking just one. Hurled a complete game, three hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts in a 6-0 shutout of the Cougars in game one. Allowed two runs on six hits with five strikeouts in a 10-2, six-inning game two victory.

Berghela batted .444 with eight hits, including two doubles and two RBI with a .500 on base percentage and .556 slugging percentage in six games for the Trailblazers. Went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and stolen base in the 5-0 win over Norwich University and 2-for-3 with a double and RBI in the 12-6 setback to Ithaca College. |
