Worcester State to Face Off with Moravian in First Round of the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament

WORCESTER, Mass. – On Monday (May 9) afternoon, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the pairings for the first round of the 2016 NCAA Division III softball tournament.
Worcester State University (26-16-1) is scheduled to play the Landmark Conference Champions, Moravian Greyhounds (35-4), this upcoming weekend in Ithaca, NY. Also playing in their bracket are the Empire 8 Tournament Champions and host team, Ithaca College Bombers (32-8) and the Mount St. Mary's (NY) Knights (22-10) who were titled the Skyline Conference Tournament Champions.
62 teams from 16 different regions advanced to the NCAA Division III softball tournament – 43 of which were automatic qualifiers for winning their conference tournaments. 19 teams will be selected through at-large bids.
The Worcester State Lancers won their 11th Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season championship last weekend and were named MASCAC Tournament Champions on Sunday (May 8) as they swept the #2 seed Bridgewater State for their second-ever title.
