NFCA DIII All-Region Teams

Framingham State's Kelsi Gunarathne, Dayna Marchant and Worcester State's Rachel Couto and Sydney Despres were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-New England Teams.  

Gunarathne and Couto were both second team selections while Marchant and Despres landed a spot on the third team.

Gunarathne was previously recognized as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Pitcher of the Year as well as a first team all-conference selection after an outstanding sophomore season.   Gunarathne went 17-7 on the season establishing a new school record for wins in a season.  She led the MASCAC with a 1.56 ERA with 144 strikeouts in 166 innings of work. She recorded 21 complete games with a MASCAC-best seven shutouts.

Marchant, who was also a first team All-MASCAC selection, established a new FSU record for hits in a season with 62 during her junior campaign.  Marchant hit .422 with two doubles, five triples, nine RBI and 39 runs scored, while stealing 14 bases.

The 2017 Rams led by Gunarathne and Marchant won a school record 31 games and captured both the MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles while making the program's second appearance in the NCAA Softball Tournament.

Despres was named to the second team All-New England as she led her team with a .410 batting average, a .526 on-base percentage and a .743 slugging percentage. She hit 12 doubles, one triple and a league-best seven home runs while tallying 27 runs and 28 RBI. She also led the league in walks with 23 and total bases with 78.
