Sydney Despres of Worcester State, Galen Kerr of Fitchburg State and Mycala Moody of Framingham State claim the MASCAC Softball Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week accolades.

Despres batted .625 (10-16) with two doubles, a home run, seven RBI and seven runs scored plus a .760 on-base and a .938 slugging percentage in a 4-2 week for the Lancers. Went 3-for-5 with an RBI, four walks and three runs scored in the doubleheader 9-8, 8-7 sweep of Bridgewater State. Was 5-for-7 with two doubles, home run, five RBI and five runs scored in the doubleheader sweep of Rhode Island College.

Galen Kerr Fitchburg State Senior • P • Concord, Mass. Kerr posted an ERA of 0.88, giving up just two earned runs on 14 hits with 22 strikeouts in 16 innings of work with three wins on the week. Allowed one earned run on seven hits with seven K’s in a 2-1 complete game win over Plymouth State University before combining to allow two runs (one earned) on seven hits with 15 strikeouts en-route to collecting both wins in a doubleheader sweep over MCLA.

Moody batted .571 (8-14) with two doubles, a triple, RBI and four runs scored in a 3-1 week for the Rams. Went 4-for-7 with two doubles, a triple and RBI in the 4-2, 6-5 doubleheader sweep of Westfield State. Was 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in the 5-3 win over Nichols College. |
