Softball Weekly Report 3/13
Courtney Leddy, Shannon Grindle of Bridgewater State and Kelsi Gunarathne of Framingham State take home the first MASCAC Softball Player, Rookie and Pitcher of the Week honors.

Leddy batted .361 (13-38) in 10 games with a pair of doubles, two stolen bases, 10 runs scored and six RBI at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. Recorded a .972 fielding percentage in 36 chances at second base and helped turn four double plays. Recorded multiple hits in five of the ten games including a 2-for-5, three RBI performance in a 15-7 win over Elms College. Also went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in a 6-2 setback to Albion College, 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a 4-2 win over Pitt. Bradford, 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in an 8-6 loss to Kenyon College, and 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 5-2 win over Rockford University.

Kelsi Gunarathne Framingham State Sophomore • P • N. Providence, R.I. Gunarathne went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings pitched, allowing seven hits with nine strikeouts and four walks for the Rams. Tossed a complete game 2-0 shutout victory against Brandeis University, allowing just three hits with five strikeouts. Went complete game five innings in the 10-2 win over FDU-Floram, allowing two unearned runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Grindle batted .324 (11-34) in 10 games with a home run, a pair of doubles, 10 RBI and five runs scored at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. Homered in her first career at bat in a 4-2 win over Mount Mary University. Went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in a 7-6 setback to New Jersey City University; 1-for-3 with an RBI double and run scored in a 5-2 win over Rockford University; 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run in a 15-7 win over Elms College; 2-for-4 with an RBI in an 8-6 setback to Kenyon College; and 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in an 8-4 loss to Swarthmore College. |
