MASCAC Softball Weekly Report 5/6

Player of the Week

Lauren Salisbury
Framingham State
Senior • OF • Cranston, R.I.

Salisbury batted .563 (9-16) with three doubles, six runs scored and eight RBI plus a .750 slugging percentage and .588 on-base percentage to earn Tournament MVP honors after helping the Rams to the MASCAC Softball Tournament title. Went 5-for-7 with a double, two runs scored and four RBI in the championship game doubleheader sweep of Bridgewater State. Went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in the 8-0 quarterfinal win over Worcester State. Was 1-for-3 with a run scored and RBI in the 4-2 semifinal win over Fitchburg State.

Pitcher of the Week

Kelsi Gunarathne
Framingham State
Senior • Pitcher • N. Providence, R.I.

Gunarathne made five appearances during the tournament and went 4-1 to help the Rams to their third straight MASCAC Tournament title. Tossed a complete game six-inning shutout in the 8-0 win over Worcester State, allowing just five hits with three strikeouts. Went 3-0 on the final day of the tournament, only giving up three runs and striking out five, including a complete game 4-2 win over Fitchburg State.

Rookie of the Week

Laela Pepin
Framingham State
Freshman • Pitcher/Utility • Acushnet, Mass.

Pepin batted .438 (7-16) with two doubles, six RBI and two stolen bases plus a .563 slugging percentage to help the Rams to their third straight MASCAC Tournament title. Went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in the 8-0 quarterfinal win over Worcester State. Went 3-for-6 with a run scored and three RBI in the championship game doubleheader sweep of Bridgewater State.
