MASCAC Softball Weekly Awards 4/21
The Westfield State duo of Sarah Hough and Angelina Vartuli along with Zoie Stevens of Worcester State claim the MASCAC Softball Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors.

Hough batted .400 (8-20) in a 5-1 week, getting at least one hit in each, with three home runs, two doubles, four walks, nine RBI, seven runs scored and .950 slugging percentage. Hit a go-ahead homer in the 6-1 win over Framingham State. Went 3-for-6 with a double, home run, three runs scored and RBI in the doubleheader sweep of WNE. Went 3-for-7 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored in the doubleheader sweep of MCLA. Set the school’s career hit record in the win over Framingham and enters the week with 168 career hits. |

Pitcher of the Week |

Vartuli improved to 10-0 on the season, going 4-0 over 22 innings pitched with a 0.63 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP, 23 strikeouts and three walks. Spun a compete game four-hitter in a 7-1 win at MCLA, then came back to pitch in four games in three days, earning the win in relief in both halves of the doubleheader sweep of WNE that extended the Owls winning streak to 26 straight games to open the season. Came in to quash a rally in the game one setback to Framingham State, then worked a gritty seven innings in game 2, allowing six hits and one run in the 6-1 win over the Rams. |

Rookie of the Week |

Stevens batted .667 (8-12) with two doubles, eight RBI, four runs scored an .833 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage in a 2-1 week for the Lancers. Went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the 13-3 win over Fitchburg State. Went 5-for-8 with a double, two runs scored and five RBI in the doubleheader split with Gordon. Weekly Report 4/21 |
