Westfield State's Valley Earns NEWBA and D3hoops.com Honors
Westfield State University junior guard Jill Valley was named to both the D3hoops.com 2016 women's All-Northeast Region second team and to the All-Region second team, which was put out by the New England Women's Basketball Association.

Westfield State University junior guard Jill Valley was named to both the D3hoops.com 2016 women's All-Northeast Region second team and to the All-Region second team, which was put out by the New England Women's Basketball Association.
Head coach, Andrea Bertini honored the junior stating, "It was an honor that was well deserved. Valley had a terrific year. Her efficiency was off the charts all season and one of the great things about Jill is she still has a lot of room to improve.
Valley capped off a terrific season by carrying her team to both a MASCAC Championship and a bid in the NCAA Tournament. Westfield ended the season with an 18-7 regular season record and an 11-1 conference record.
Valley had an outstandingc scoring and defensive season for the owls. She led the team in scoring and was second in league in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game and shooting an impressive 43% from the field. Valley also shot 42.3% from beyond the arc, which also was the best in the conference. She also led the league in steals, averaging 3.6 steals per game.
To go with the two honors listed above, Valley also was selected to the MASCAC First-Team All-Conference and earned Player of the Year honors. Valley put up some impressive statistics this season. To go with her league leading stats, she also shot 85.4% from the free throw line, average 3.3 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game.
Valley and the Owls ended the season falling to Bowdoin College in the NCAA Tournament but return all but one senior next season.
