Jill Valley of Westfield State and Kyra Rose of Fitchburg State claim the first MASCAC Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week accolades of the 2016-17 season.

Jill Valley Valley averaged 26.3 points, four rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.3 assists while shooting 57 percent from the floor in a 2-1 week for the Owls, earning Tournament MVP and leading the Owls to the tournament title at the Brandeis Tip Off Tournament. Scored 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting with five steals and three assists in the 103-68 win over Rhode Island College and 30 points, two steals and three rebounds in the 76-74 title game win over Brandeis University. |

Rose averaged 22 points, 5.7 rebounds, three steals and three assists whille shooting 57.5 percent from the field in three contests for the Falcons. Collected 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 76-62 setback to Clark University before adding 31 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals in an 89-81 win over St. Joseph (CT). Finished the week with 13 points, three boards, one assist and three steals in a 58-57 setback to Wellesley College. |
