Six MASCAC student-athletes have been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on the ZagSports Academic Honor Roll as announced by the organization this week.
Lauren Geary and Gaelin Reall of Bridgewater State, Molly Barbarotta of Fitchburg State, Svetlana Morrell of MCLA and Katelyn Murphy and Alaina Martin of Worcester State join student-athletes from 301 institutions around the country on this year's honor roll.
In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
As a team, Bridgewater State and Fitchburg State also qualified as an IWLCA Academic Squad with both teams having a combined team GPA of 3.1 for the 2015-16 academic year.
A total of 276 women's lacrosse teams across the country in Division I, II, III and the NAIA posted a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the IWLCA Team Academic Award for the 20-15-16 academic year, while the IWLCA also honored student-athletes from 149 different institutions with inclusion in the 2016 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll.
