ECAC DIII New England WLAX Release

Lauren Geary of Bridgewater State, Carrie Long of Fitchburg State, Mimi Khampaeng of Westfield State, Kaila Chase and Jackie Connors of Worcester State were named to Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Women's Lacrosse All-Star team.

Geary has produced 56 goals and 21 assists for 71 points as well as 141 draw controls, 83 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers. She ranks fourth in all of Division III with 8.29 draw controls per game and is 11th overall with 4.88 ground balls per game.

Geary eclipsed the NCAA Division III all-time record for career draw controls earlier this season and is the only player in DIII history to reach the 600 milestone. She also ranks among the top 15 in career ground balls.

The Bears all-time leader in draw controls and ground balls, Geary is also third in program history in goals, fifth in scoring and ninth in assists. Earlier this month, Geary was named to the All-MASCAC First Team for the fourth straight season and was also selected as the MASCAC Player of the Year.

Long helped anchor the Falcons defense this past season, posting 12 points on ten markers and two helpers, while also leading the team in ground balls (74), draw controls (89) and caused turnovers (47). In addition to this honor, Carrie was also named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference First Team.

The Fitchburg State Women's Lacrosse Team recently concluded the 2016 campaign with an overall record of 14-5 and 6-1 mark in the MASCAC, en-route to earning the third seed in the MASCAC women's lacrosse post-season tournament as well as clinching a share of its first ever MASCAC regular-season title.

Khampaeng was chosen for the second team after a season in which she posted a .562 save percentage and an 8.01 goals-against average.  She finished the season ranked fourth in the nation in save percentage.   She also picked up 33 ground balls and forced 17 turnovers.
 
A co-captain, she led the Owls to a 14-5 overall record and a 6-1 mark and a regular season Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference title.  Westfield State advanced to the MASCAC championship game as the top seed in the conference tournament before losing a heartbreaker, 11-10 in overtime to Bridgewater in the title tilt.

For the Lancers, Connors led the team with 67 goals and 47 assists for a combined 114 points. She also had tallied 50 ground balls, 76 draw controls, and 28 caused turnovers. Chase follows with 55 goals and 32 assists for a combined 87 points. Both Connors and Chase stand atop the all-time career records at Worcester State in the categories of goals, assists and points. The duo earlier this year was named MASCAC First Team All-Conference for their efforts.

Worcester State finished the regular season with a 4-3 record in the MASCAC and earned the fourth seed in the tournament. They advanced to the MASCAC Semifinals after a quarterfinal victory over Framingham State, 16-13.
