The Westfield State women's soccer team will face Williams College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament after earning the automatic bid into the tournament with a MASCAC Tournament victory on Sunday.
The Owls landed a spot in the NCAA Tournament after upsetting top seed Worcester State, 1-0, on Sunday in the MASCAC Tournament title game. Tournament MVP Katy Knight drained the only goal of the game in the 41st minute to give the team the victory. Westfield State enters the tournament 10-6-3.
Williams College won the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament championship on Sunday after defeating Bowdoin, 2-0. The Ephs earned their 17th overall bid and will be making its ninth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, they reached the national championship game, but fell to Lynchburg, 4-3, on penalty kicks.
The winner of Westfield State and Williams will play the winners of the game between St. Lawrence (13-4-2) and TCNJ (12-3-4) on Sunday.
