The NSCAA honored a total of 101 women’s programs at all levels of competition with their respective Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game as reflected by the numbers of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.
MCLA also received the NSCAA Team Academic award which was awarded to the 2015 squad. This is the third straight season the Trailblazers were recognized.
A total of 918 soccer teams across all NCAA divisions (326 men, 592 women) from throughout the United States have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2015-16 academic year. Among these programs are 236 schools receiving honors for both their men and women's teams.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
