Worcester State Claims Number One Seed in 2016 MASCAC Women's Soccer Tournament
The Worcester State Lancers claim the number one seed in the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament which will start on Tuesday with the quarterfinals round.

The tournament starts on Tuesday, November 1 with third Bridgewater State hosting sixth seed Fitchburg State at 7 pm while fourth seed Framingham State entertaining fifth seed Salem State at 7 pm.
The winner of Bridgewater State/Fitchburg State will play second seed Westfield State on Friday, November 4 at 7 pm then the winner of Framingham State/Salem State faces off with top seed Worcester State at 7 pm. The winners of the semifinal games will meet up Sunday, November 6 at the highest remaining seed for the MASCAC Tournament Championship.
Taking home a first round bye and the number one seed, Worcester State finished the conference regular season with a 5-0-2 record. Vanessa O'Donnell was solid in goal for the Lancers this season tallying the third most wins in the league with six, third best goals-against average at 1.10 and only allowed 15 goals all season which is the second lowest in the conference. She also had the second most shutouts with six.
Receiving the other first round bye with the second seed Westfield State who closed out the league season with a 5-1-1 mark. In her first year with the Owls, Bella Eduardo leads the team in total points with 15 on five goals and five assists while also netting two game-winners this season. She currently has the second most assists in the league and fourth most points.
Sitting in the third slot is Bridgewater State. The Bears were 4-1-2 at the conclusion of the conference schedule. Lauren DeSousa was solid between the pipes for the team this year, ending the regular season first in the conference in goals-against average (0.53), save percentage (.900), shutouts (8) and the lowest number of goals against (9).
Framingham State lands in fourth after finishing 4-3 during MASCAC play. Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux finished the regular season in the top five of all major goalie categories. She was fourth in saves (90) and save percentage (.804) and fifth in goals against (22), goals-against average (1.35) and shutouts (4).
Rounding out the tournament teams are Salem State and Fitchburg State in fifth and sixth, respectively. The Vikings concluded league competition with three wins. Allison Celia led the team in points with 10 and goals scored with 5. For the Falcons, they also had three wins in conference action. The duo of Micalea Goldenberg and Whitney Mansfield led the squad with seven points on three goals and assist to end the regular season.
During last year's tournament, second seed Westfield State upset top seed Worcester State 1-0 to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
