Three MASCAC Student-Athletes Claim ECAC Weekly Honors

Fitchburg State's Brian Amaral for men's cross country, Westfield State's Jessie Cardin for women's cross country and Worcester State's Alyssa Jasper for volleyball have earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England weekly awards.
Earlier this week, Jasper was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week. She earned the same accolade as awarded by the ECAC. For the Lancers, Jasper averaged 17.5 kills, 12.5 digs and 2.5 aces in a 4-0 week for the Lancers which included 27 kills, 22 digs and three aces in a 3-2 victory over Rhode Island College, 25 kills, 16 digs, three aces and two solo blocks in a 3-2 win over Wentworth College and added nine kills and three aces in a 3-0 win over Massachusetts Maritime.
On the cross country side, Cardin took home the MASCAC runner and rookie of the week honors. For the ECAC, she earned rookie of the week honors after finishing sixth out of a field of 272 runners with a 5k time of 18:12 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. She helped lead the Owls to a ninth-place finish out of a 38 team field.
Earning the MASCAC and ECAC rookie of the week honors, Amaral finished 12th out of 255 runners with a time of 25:37 over the 8k course at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
