Women's XC Results

For the third straight time, the Westfield State women's cross country team is the MASCAC Champions.

Hosted by Westfield State, the Owls finished with 31 points while runner-up Fitchburg State had 63. Close in third was Bridgewater State with 68 points, Framingham State came in fourth with 81, Worcester State next in fifth with 131. Mass. Maritime and MCLA rounded out the field in sixth and seventh with 184 and 198, respectively.

For Fitchburg State, Abby Murphy crossed the finish line first with a time of 19:16 over the 5k course to claim the MASCAC Runner of the Year honors. Murphy is the first Falcons' runner to achieve the accolade since 2000. Teammate Lilah McAndrew came in seventh with a time of 19:52 to earn All-Conference accolades along with Murphy.

Westfield State claimed the team title with five runners in the top 10 for All-Conference honors. Shea Hamel was the first Owl across the line in third with a time of 19:28 to earn MASCAC Co-Rookie of the Year. Joining her in top 10 were Mia McDonald in fourth (19:32), Ariann Lecours in sixth (19:51), Tealei Chandonnet (19:55) and Julianne Kelly in 10th (20:03).

Bridgewater State had two top 10 finishers. Co-MASCAC Rookie of the Year Nicole Major came in second with a time of 19:20 while teammate Maura Bruns was ninth with a 5k time of 19:58 to lead the team to a third place finish.

Framingham State's Emily Newcomb rounds out the top 10 All-Conference honorees. She came across the line with a time of 19:43, good enough for fifth place. 

In her first year at the helm, Marlee Berg from Westfield State was named the 2022 BSN Sports Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year as voted by her peers. 

The women's cross country season continues in two weeks at the NCAA DIII Northeast and East Regionals hosted by St. Lawrence and Bowdoin, respectively.
