William Francis Bulloch II, 58, passed away Monday August 11, 2008 at home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Dorchester, MA on August 7, 1950 he was the son of the late William F. Bulloch and Marjorie (Wood) Bulloch. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" (Stanton) Bulloch and their children Krystal Glidden of Dover and James Glidden of Worcester, MA, his brother David M. Bulloch of Hampton, VA, his sister Karen Morin and her husband David of Nashua, NH and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Mark Bulloch of Davenport, FL.
After completing a stellar three-sport schoolboy career at Tewksbury High School, Bill attended Plymouth State College where he received his undergraduate degree in athletic training. He then matriculated to Indiana University where he received a Master's Degree. He worked as an athletic training graduate assistant with the Hoosier's Basketball Program, then coached by Hall of Famer Bobby Knight. After a brief stay at Bridgewater State College, where he was credited with starting that college's athletic training program, Bill relocated to Salem, MA where he was employed by Salem State College as the intercollegiate athletic department's head Athletic Trainer for the last 32 years. After arriving on the SSC campus on October 2, 1977 Bill began to mentor and prepare many of his student trainers for top athletic positions all over the United States. But his services were not just for the athletes; he had an open door policy and treated injuries for the surrounding communities.
In 2007 Bill's schoolboy athletic accomplishments were recognized and honored when he was inducted into the Tewksbury High School Athletic Hall of Fame. In June 2008 Bill's many years of loyal and dedicated service to the Salem State athletic programs were rewarded when he was chosen for induction into the College's Athletic Hall of Fame.
One of Bill's favorite quotes: "Dance as if no one were watching, sing as if no one were listening, and live everyday as if it were your last"
