Three Westfield State players - senior defensive back Nick Leverone (Natick, Mass.), senior defensive back Josh Mathieu (Fitchburg, Mass.) and junior Chris Stengel (Forest Hill, Md.) - were selected to the ECAC 2009 Division III Northeast Football All-Stars.

The Owls had the second most players named to the ECAC all-star squad, with unbeaten Amherst leading the way with four players. Thirteen players from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) were selected ECAC all-stars, with Westfield the only NEFC squad with more than one player on the all-star squad.

Mathieu and Stengel have been chosen to multiple post-season squads. Mathieu leads the NCAA Division III in pass defended (7 interceptions, 15 pass breakups) and Stengel ranks sixth nationally in punting average (40.23).

Leverone was one of eight Owls selected to the NEFC Bogan Division all-conference first team. The Merrimack College transfer was Westfield's sixth leading tackler with 45 tackles, including 34 solo stops. He had five interceptions and four pass breakups.
