Buzzards Bay, Mass. -- Ashley Lorance, who served last fall as Head Volleyball Coach at Massachusetts Maritime, will assume additional duties as the Academy's Head Softball Coach, effective immediately. Lorance's appointment was confirmed today by Bob Corradi, Massachusetts Maritime's Director of Athletics.

A resident of Marshfield, Mass., Lorance came to the Academy last year and guided the Buccaneer volleyball squad through its first campaign in two seasons last fall. A three sport standout and Dean's List student at Colby-Sawyer College in Henniker, N.H., Lorance shined at the high school level as well in earning all-scholastic accolades at Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, Mass.

"Ashley has done an exceptional job in recruiting for the volleyball program since her arrival at Massachusetts Maritime, and I look for that to continue as she takes charge of our softball program," Corradi says of Lorance's appointment. "I am confident that she will guide both programs in an extremely positive direction."

Lorance replaces Christine McCarey, who resigned from her softball position earlier this spring. McCarey will remain at Massachusetts Maritime and begins her second season as the Buccaneers' Head Women's Soccer Coach this fall.
