BRIDGEWATER, MA, May 6,
2007 - No. 4 Framingham State defeated No. 1
Bridgewater State 1-0 to win the 2007 Massachusetts State College
Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Tournament championship on
Sunday afternoon at Alumni Park.
The host Bears forced the deciding tiebreaker by downing the Rams 7-1 in the first game on Sunday.
Framingham State (21-19) then answered with its thrilling one-run victory in that deciding game en route to the program's first-ever MASCAC Tournament title and NCAA Division III Championship berth.
Pairings for the tournament will be announced by early Monday morning.
Bridgewater State ends its season with a record of
22-20-1, as the Bears' streak of three consecutive MASCAC
Tournament titles and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances
both came to an end.
